The Senior Cost Accountant estimates production costs, tracks expenses, and recommends changes to pricing models by analyzing labor and supply data.
Requirements
- Knowledge of production methods and material supply costing
- Proficiency in analyzing Cost of goods sold (CoGS)
- Ability to analyze Purchase Price Variance (PPV)
- Experience in manufacturing variance journal entries
Duties
- Develop and maintain accurate costing systems for labor and materials
- Analyze changes in product design to determine effects on costs
- Estimate new and proposed product costs
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts
- Analyze material and labor costs to evaluate efficiency
- Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
- Provide finance support on business cases and project cost calculations
- Reconcile general ledger account balances for inventory items
- Evaluate and update standard costs on a quarterly basis
- Drive cost reductions and manufacturing productivity improvements
